TWELVE MORE KUMANS BELIEVE
November 9, 2004
Twelve Kumans placed their faith in Christ last week after hearing of His death, burial and resurrection.
Batnas, the teenage boy who became a believer a week earlier, encouraged other Kumans at a meeting on Thursday as he gave a clear testimony that Jesus paid for all of his sins on the cross.
Over the weekend, missionaries Ken and Kim White and Will and Kelly Tallman talked to those who heard the Gospel to see what they understood.
"I was bound on the altar, condemned to die and burn," said one Kuman. "Jesus the Lamb of God took my place on the altar, taking on Him the penalty for my sin. He is my Lamb, my Savior, and I take Him to be the One who saves me from my sins."
Saturday, Ken and Kim took Kuman believer Ruth and her sister Sandy to visit the elderly couple Dua and Agnes. Sandy had missed Thursday night's meeting and the climax of the evangelistic Bible teaching.
As the Whites presented the Gospel message, Sandy, Dua and Agnes understood and placed their faith in Christ.
"All along we have heard about how people sacrificed sheep to God and their sins were covered," said Sandy. "I've wondered what I would do because I have no sheep to offer to God.
"I used to think maybe if I just prayed a lot or sang a lot of songs maybe I could go to heaven, but Ruth told me that when we got to the end [of the teaching] I'd see that I did have an offering to give to God, and now I know that that offering is Jesus. He was the sacrifice for my sins and paid for them all so now I can live forever."
Dua and Agnes, like most Kumans, spent their lives trying to earn their way to heaven by good works. But Dua, who is nearly blind, and his wife Agnes, who is totally blind, now confess that they are sinners who deserved to go to hell. They acknowledged that Jesus alone paid the price for them to be free.
Several Kumans who became believers last November have been instrumental in reaching the new believers. Their comments were helpful in clarifying the teaching on Thursday.
Pray for the Whites and Tallmans as they disciple the believers to be messengers of the Gospel to the other 150,000 Kumans.
